Pockets of Possibility: Stories of Impact

Welcome to the Washington Communities for Children Blog! In the book Impact Networks, David Ehrlichman introduces the concept of creating system changes by focusing locally.

“These are places all around the world where people are coming together to plant seeds for a positive future. We may not be able to change the whole system all at once. But we can create positive changes locally. And when those local changes are connected together through networks – when they are coordinated, learn from one another, and reinforce one another – change can happen at larger and larger scales.” - Impact Networks, pg. 163

Ehrlichman calls these places “Pockets of Possibility.” The intention of this blog is to create a library of stories. Here we celebrate the people and places who are igniting change for children and families. Every month we’ll post a new story. We invite you to come back regularly to learn from fellow changemakers. If something you read sparks an interest, let us know and we’ll create a connection. And, if you have something to celebrate, share it with us! Join us in changing the early childhood system in Washington State, one story at a time.
